Marmosets were 22 species of New World monkeys of the genus Callithrix, Cebuella, Callibella, and Mico. All four genera are part of the biological family Callitrichidae. The term marmoset is also used in reference to the Goeldi's Monkey, Callimico goeldii, which are closely related. marmosets showed several features were primitive: marmosets do not have claws and nails but tactile hair on their wrists. Most of their diet, however, comes from tapping trees for sap. Up to two-thirds of their time is spent gouging tree skin to reach the gummy sap. This pygmy marmoset has specialized incisors for gouging holes in the skin. Unfortunately, because of its small size and rapid movement, it is very difficult to observe in the wild.
